1972–73 Hunedoara County Championship
The 1972–73 Hunedoara County Championship was the 5th season of the Liga IV Hunedoara, the fourth tier of the Romanian football league system. The season began on 3 September 1972 and ended on 10 June 1973.[1]
Dacia Orăștie won the county championship and promoted in Divizia C without promotion play-off due to the expansion of third tier.

Competition format
The format has been maintained to two series, but the number of teams from each series was changed, the Valea Jiului Series with 10 teams and the Valea Mureșului Series with 16 teams. The winners of the two series qualify for the championship play-off to establish the county champion and Hunedoara County representative at the promotion play-off in Divizia C.

Other changes
- Energia Deva and Dacia Deva merged, the first one being absorbed by the second one.
- The youth team of Minerul Lupeni was replaced by the youth team Aurul Brad.
- The youth team of Constructorul Hunedoara was retired from championship due to relegation of its first team.
