Santa Barbara competed in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The team was led by eighth-year head coach Stan Williamson, and played home games at La Playa Stadium in Santa Barbara, California. They finished the season with a record of three wins and six losses (3–6, 1–1 CCAA).

2. The official name of Cal Poly has been California Polytechnic State University since 1947. However, it is more commonly known as either Cal Poly San Luis Obispo or just Cal Poly.
3. California State University, Los Angeles (Cal State LA) was known as Los Angeles State College of Applied Arts and Sciences from 1947 to 1963.
4. California State University, Sacramento was known as Sacramento State College from 1947 to 1971.
5. The game against the Cal Aggies was part of an "All-UC Doubleheader" that was held annually from 1948 to 1963. The other game of the double-header was California vs. UCLA. The games were always held at the home stadium of either Cal or UCLA.
6. University of California, Davis was known as Northern Branch of the College of Agriculture from 1922 to 1959. In common usage, the sports teams were called the "Cal Aggies" from 1924 until the mid 1970s.
