1939 Chico State Wildcats football team
The 1939 Chico State Wildcats football team represented Chico State College[note 1] during the 1939 college football season. Chico State competed in the Far Western Conference in 1939. They played home games at College Field in Chico, California.

The 1939 Wildcats were led by first-year head coach H.J. McCormick in his only season at the helm. Chico State finished the season with a record of two wins, four losses and two ties (2–3–2, 1–2 FWC). The Wildcats were outscored by their opponents 28–47 for the season.

- Humboldt State University was known as Humboldt State College from 1935 to 1972.
- University of California, Davis was known as Northern Branch of the College of Agriculture from 1922 to 1959. In common usage, the sports teams were called the "Cal Aggies" from 1924 until the mid 1970s.
- University of the Pacific (UOP) was known as College of the Pacific from 1911 to 1961.
- California Polytechnic State University was known as California Polytechnic School from 1901 to 1946.
- cfbdatawarehouse.com lists an additional game, a loss vs. Sacramento Athletic Club (2–3) with no date. No other evidence of this game has been found and summaries of the 1939 season posted in the San Francisco Chronicle do not include that game. It is not listed here.
