Life

Goddard was a career diplomat for Barbados. She served in Venezuela and in America. Within America she was based at Washington, Miami and Florida.[1]

She was serving as Charge d'Affairs in Brussels when she was promoted to be an Ambassador. Barbados had recognised the growing importance of Brazil and had decided to open a new embassy there. Goddard was chosen as her country's first ambassador to Brazil which opened in 2010.[1] In the same year GOL Linha Aerea Inteligentes (GOL Intelligent Airlines) started direct flights from Barbados to Sao Paulo in Brazil which cut a 20 hour journey via Miami down to six hours. Goddard was at the celebration.[2]

On 12 September 2012 Goddard was given a medal in Brazil for her services in improving relations. The award was made by Antonio Anastasia and Maristela Kubitschek. Maristela is the daughter of former President Juscelino Kubitschek. The medal is named the Juscelino Kubitschek Medal.[3]

Goddard left her post in Brazil and her home in Brazilia in 2017.[4] She went on to be the Permanent Secretary in the Office of Barbados's Attorney General in 2018.[5] Dale Marshall was the Attorney General and Cabinet member.[6]
