The Yemeni American News was established in 2007 when publisher Rasheed Alnozili saw the need for a connection among the Metro Detroit Diaspora. With a humble beginning, the reporters at YAN started documenting life as a Yemeni American in one of the largest Yemeni communities in the United States. Today, the Yemeni American News provides daily news about business, the American Immigration System, and life in and around Metro Detroit. As a small newspaper, YAN states that it is able to dig deeper and report on a wider range of topics than some of the larger newspapers operating in Metro Detroit. Still, the mission stays the same: remaining dedicated to the people the Yemeni American News serves and providing the information they need.

Serving 15,000 readers each month, YAN provides coverage in both English and Arabic through our online and print editions. Their website is updated every day with on-the-ground reporting, broader analysis, and the most pertinent information for their readers.
