Weerselo was a separate municipality until 2001 when it became a part of Denekamp.[1]
In 2001, the village of Weerselo had 1887 inhabitants. The built-up area of the village was 0.61 km², and contained 651 residences.[2] The statistical area "Weerselo", which also can include the peripheral parts of the village, as well as the surrounding countryside, has a population of around 2550.[3]
A fine example of the historic building style in Twente, in the east of the Netherlands, can be found near the Stiftskerk, which in itself is a point of interest in this village, since it is its oldest core that gave name to the village.
The 'Weerselose Markt' is a flea market for antiques and bric-à-brac which opens every Saturday.
