The Waitt Institute is a nonprofit institution partnering with island governments and communities to restore coral reefs and fisheries. It is headquartered in Washington, DC and is funded by the Waitt Foundation. Current projects are in the Caribbean, on the islands of Barbuda, Montserrat, and Curacao.[1]

The Institute was founded by Ted Waitt in 2006 as the Waitt Institute for Discovery and took on its current name in 2010.[2]

The Institute helped conduct and fund analyses of possible locations of the remains of Amelia Earhart's last flight.
