Early life and education

Vincint was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.[3] His father was a gospel singer in a group called Christian and the Gospel Singers, and Vincint began singing at age 5.[4] He was shy about singing as a child, but his father took him to audition for an all-boys choir audition when he was 7 to nurture his interest. Vincint wrote his first song when he was 12.[4]

Vincint was raised Baptist but attended Catholic school growing up.[1] He attended Berklee College of Music for his bachelor's degree.[4]

Career

He appeared on the first season of The Four one week before the finale, where he received unanimous "yes" votes from every judge after performing "Creep" by Radiohead.[2] He stated in an interview that producers attempted to persuade him to sing gospel music due to his race, and some male producers refused to work with him.[5] Vincint was eliminated in the first round of the finale competition along with contestant Zhavia Ward.[2]

Vincint released three singles in 2018: "Remember Me", "Marrow", and "Mine". He released a music video for "Marrow" on February 8, 2018. The video was directed by Jake Wilson and shot in a church in North Hollywood, in an homage to Vincint's upbringing in Catholic school.[1] The latter two singles were produced by Pretty Sister.[3]

Vincint's singing style ranges from belting to whispery falsetto.[6] He characterizes his genre of music as pop.[4]

On April 5, 2019, Vincint premiered a music video for a single called "Please Don't Fall in Love," directed by Jasper Soloff.[7]

He released his debut EP The Feeling on February 14, 2020.[4]

Personal life

Vincint is openly gay.[8]
