Tukaraq
Tukaraq is a small village in the eastern Sool region of Somaliland.[1] The town is located on the road between Las Anod and Garowe in Las Anod District.[2]

Overview
Somaliland captured Tukaraq from the loyal Khaatumo State forces that fled to Ethiopia.[3]
On 15 May 2018 intense increase in military activity occurred between rival Puntland and Somaliland armed forces in the surrounding area of Tukaraq after Puntland launched multiple minor offensives, whereafter the Somaliland forces launched a major counteroffensive[4]
On 24 May 2018 both rival groups between Somaliland and Puntland both participating in an ongoing conflict in the Sool region released press statements claiming that the opposing side launched a predawn offensive around 05:30 AM local time.[5]
Demographics
Tukaraq is inhabited by the Dhulbahante, Darod clan and various Dhulbahante sub-clans are represented.
