Tropical Storm Lawin
The name Lawin has been used in the Philippines by PAGASA in the Western Pacific. It was a given local name for a bird specie hawk.
- Typhoon Megi (2004) (T0415, 18W, Lawin) – struck Japan.
- Tropical Depression Lawin (2008) (14W) – a tropical depression that was only recognized by PAGASA and the JTWC.
- Typhoon Jelawat (2012) (T1217, 18W, Lawin) – struck Japan.
- Typhoon Haima (2016) (T1622, 25W, Lawin) - struck Northern Luzon.
Due to the extreme damages caused by the 2016 storm, the name Lawin has been retired. It was officially succeeded by Leon which used for the first time in 2020, and was also the given local name for a lion.[1]
- Tropical Storm Noul (2020) (T2012, 13W, Leon) - a weak tropical storm that was only recognized by PAGASA
