As of 2020 Secunda CTL in South Africa is the world's largest single emitter, at 56.5 million tonnes CO2 a year.[3] However the planned Afşin-Elbistan C power station in Turkey environmental impact assessment estimated CO
2 emissions would be more than 60 million tonnes of CO
2 per year.[4]
