Tooting, Merton and Wimbledon Railway
The Tooting, Merton and Wimbledon Railway (TM&WR) was a railway company jointly operated by the London and South Western Railway (LSWR) and the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LBSCR) in Surrey (now south-west London). It was established in 1864.[1]
Network
The TM&WR comprised two lines: the Wimbledon branch, linking the LB&SCR's line at Streatham to the LSWR's line at Wimbledon which today forms part of the Sutton Loop Line; and the Merton branch, linking the Wimbledon branch at Tooting to the LB&SCR's Croydon to Wimbledon line at Merton Park.
On the Wimbledon branch, the railway served Wimbledon station and had intermediate stations at Tooting Junction and Haydons Road. On the Merton branch, it served stations at Merton Park and Merton Abbey.
