Eliot (1973) separated two species, P. sublutea (Bethune-Baker) and P. caerulea Tite from New Guinea, placing them in a new genus Titea and showed that Philiris, Titea, Parachrysops Bethune-Baker, Hypochrysops C. and R. Felder, and Waigeum Staudinger were a closely related group of genera within the tribe Luciini
