There's Someone Inside Your House (film)

There's Someone Inside Your House is an upcoming American slasher film directed by Patrick Brice, from a screenplay by Henry Gayden, and based upon Stephanie Perkins' 2017 novel of the same name. It stars Sydney Park, Theodore Pellerin, Asjha Cooper, Dale Whibley, Jesse LaTourette, Burkely Duffield, Diego Josef, Markian Tarasiuk and Sarah Dugdale, and follows the story of Makani Young (Park), a senior transfer student from Hawaii who later finds herself in the center of gruesome murder cases in her newly acquainted town of Osborne, Nebraska.

Premise

Makani Young has moved from Hawaii to quiet, small-town Nebraska to live with her grandmother and finish high school, but as the countdown to graduation begins, her classmates are stalked by a killer intent on exposing their darkest secrets to the entire town, terrorizing victims while wearing a life-like mask of their own face. With a mysterious past of her own, Makani and her friends must discover the killer's identity before they become victims themselves.

Production

Development and pre-production

In March 2018, Deadline reported that Netflix had partnered with 21 Laps Entertainment and Atomic Monster Productions to create a film adaptation based on the novel There's Someone Inside Your House by Stephanie Perkins.[4] It was described as an amalgamation of genre films in the vein of quintessential 1980s and 1990s slashers such as Friday the 13th and Scream as well as the coming-of-age dramas reminiscent of the 1980s classics such as John Hughes' The Breakfast Club and George Lucas' American Graffiti.[4][5] After the official announcement, it was confirmed that Shawn Levy, James Wan, Dan Cohen and Michael Clear would serve as producers on the film.[6] In March 2019, it was announced that Patrick Brice would direct the film from a screenplay by Henry Gayden.[7][8][9] In August 2019, Sydney Park, Theodore Pellerin, Asjha Cooper, Dale Whibley, Jesse LaTourette, Burkely Duffield, Diego Josef, Zane Clifford and Sarah Dugdale joined the cast of the film.[10][11][12][13]

Filming and post-production

Principal photography began in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on August 22, 2019, and ended on October 12, 2019.[14][15][16] Additional photography for the film concluded on August 23, 2020.[17] Michel Aller, who worked on multiple film projects in the past including Shazam! and Lights Out, served as the primary editor for the film.[18]

Music

Zachary Dawes composed the score for the film.[19]

Release

The film is expected to be released in February 2021.[20][21][22][23][24]
