Gameplay
Built as a point and click adventure game. The player must take control of the main characters to try and uncover the mystery of The Devil’s Men. This will involve puzzle solving, talking to characters in the universe and exploring locations. Like many modern adventure games, The Devil's Men utilizes a choice system that will change gameplay and outcomes based on how players act or interact with the world.[1]
Setting
The player must help to solve a series of murders sweeping the countryside in 1871 England where the old world is evolving into a new more modern setting. The writer Kevin Mentz said: "I wanted to show that transition also as a transition from a historically somehow real era into something fantastical. You could describe it as the origin story of a new steampunk universe."
