The Cafe Table
The Cafe Table is a New Age publishing house[1][2] of fiction and nonfiction in Bengali book Industry based on Kolkata, West Bengal, India. It is owned by Arijit Bhadra and Avishek Aich. They are mostly famous for bringing quality social media (mainly Facebook) content in mainstream media successfully. Although, in their after path, they also worked with renowned author like Sunil Gangopadhyay, Swapnamoy Chakraborty, Sourav Mukhopadhyay, Saikat Mukhopadhyay, Debashish Bandopadhyay, Sekhar Basu, Sujan DasGupta, Binod Ghosal, Sayantani Pututundo and others.
Genesis and history
The Cafe Table is founded in 2016 by Avishek Aich and Arijit Bhadra. It all began in January 2016 when the idea of turning hidden thoughts into tangible treasures like books sparked in The Cafe Table team. Their journey has started in July 2016 by publishing Nunete Vatete (Bengali: নুনেতে ভাতেতে ), a book about the food heritage and culture of the Indian subcontinent, edited by Ramkrishna Bhattacharya Sannyal and Anarja Tapas. Since then, The Cafe Table has become a platform that has witnessed several known and unknown authors get their scripts published. Followed by Shanto, Market Visit, Ekenbabu Somogro 1, at the end of 2018, only in the time span of two and half year The Cafe Table have 100 titles in their credit, which makes it one of the leading New Publishers in College Street.[3]
Logo, mascot and official song
The Cafe Table is regarded to be the 1st publishers in Bengali book publishing industry to have a mascot. Coco, the official mascot of cafe table is created by Sourav Bera. Not only that, they are also the 1st one publishers to have an official song. The song Jite Nebe Dil is written and composed by Hridoybari band. An official music video of the song was launched on YouTube on 30 January 2018.[4]

Publishing career
In their first year of publishing, The Cafe Table mainly focused in bringing the good quality social media (Mostly Facebook) Bengali literary content to mainstream publication. To fulfill this goal, they worked in four major books; Shanto (written by Raja Bhattacharya), Market Visit (written by Avik Sarkar), Alpote Golpo (written by Ramkrishna Bhattacharya Sannyal), Sierra Leone Shihoron (written by Bivas Raychaudhuri). Shanto and Market visit became best sellers in 2017 Kolkata International book fair.
But they change their vision in after the book-fair. Alongside with social media content, they have worked with several renowned author of contemporary Bengali literature, resulted in the publication of Gol Golpo Chouko Golpo (the 1st published collection of stories of renowned author Sourav Mukhopadhyay),[7] Kissawala (collection of 40 stories written by Saikat Mukhopadhyay), Dhorshoner Athero Din Por (18 days after the rape; written by Debotosh Dash), Rupkothar Jonmodin, EK Bishwasghatoker Kahini and many others.
They tied up with Ghoraddim magazine as publishers, which produced two issues. Although the tie-up broke and in 2018, The Cafe Table published their own magazine Hattimatim (Sharodiya).
They have re-published Ekjon Sub Editorer kotipoy Chenrakhora din (written by Rubayt Ahamed) and Das Partyr Khonje[8][9] (written by Hasan Murshed) as a tie up project with Bangladesh.[10][11]
The cafe Table has tied up with internationally famous publishing house like Penguin Random House and Scholastic Inc for their new upcoming project Eke Chandra Duie Rokto (the Bengali translation[12] of Rahul Pandita's national bestseller Our moon has blood clots) and Nagrajer Guptokotha (the Bengali translation of Sayntani Dasgupta's Kiranmala and the Kingdom Beyond #1: The Serpent's Secret).
Writers
The Cafe Table worked with several renowned as well as new author. Raja Bhattacharjya, Avik Sarkar, Sudeb Bhattacharjee several writers started their writing career with The Cafe Table. They also worked with several known face of modern Bengali literature. Some of them are Sourav Mukhopadhyay, Saikat Mukhopadhyay, Binod Ghoshal, Shekhar Basu, Sayantani Putatunda, Sujan Dashgupta, Bipul Das[13] and many others.
