The Art Institute of New York City
The Art Institute of New York City was a for-profit college in New York City. It was one of The Art Institutes, a system of over 44 education institutions throughout North America, providing education in design, media arts, and fashion. Founded in 1980 as The New York Restaurant School, and renamed in 2001, it was accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools.

The Art Institutes system is a subsidiary of Education Management Corporation, which is headquartered in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.[1] The majority of the system's campuses are scheduled to close due to declining numbers of enrolling students.[2]
The Art Institute of New York City officially closed in 2017.[3][4]
