Sybil P. Seitzinger

Sybil P. Seitzinger is an oceanographer and climate scientist at the Pacific Institute for Climate Solutions, where she is an executive director.[1] She is also a professor of Environmental Studies at the University of Victoria.[2]

She received her PhD in biological oceanography from the University of Rhode Island and has an honorary PhD from Utrecht University. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences,[2] and is recognized for her research on how humans affected and changed natural processes and for the real-world value of her work.[3][4]

She has previously served as director of the Rutgers/NOAA Cooperative Marine Education and Research Program, and as a visiting professor at Rutgers University.[5]

Awards and honors

Seitzinger was named a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union in 2019.[6]
