Sweet Sweat
Sweet Sweat (甘い汗, Amai ase) is a 1964 Japanese film directed by Shiro Toyoda.[1] The film is about an unwed mother (Machiko Kyō) who works at a hostess bar and is struggling to keep her family together while continuing her relationship with her yakuza boyfriend.[1]

The film won Machiko Kyō two awards for Best Actress from Mainichi Film Concours and Kinema Junpo.
Release
Sweet Sweat was released in Japan by Toho on September 19, 1964 with a 118-minute running time.[1] The film was released after the death of co-star Keiji Sada, who died in a car accident in July 1964.[1]
It was released in the United States by Toho International with English-subtitles on September 1965.[1] This version had a 120-minute running time.[1]
Reception
In Japan, Kinema Junpo awarded Machiko Kyō won the award for Best Actress for her role in the film and Yoko Mizuki for Best Screenplay for this film and Kwaidan.[1] Kyo also won the award for Best Actress at the Mainichi Film Concours for her work in the film.[1]
