Beards played four seasons in the Finnish Veikkausliiga for RoPS Rovaniemi and TPS Turku and one season in the Icelandic Úrvalsdeild for Valur.[1][2]
Despite being known for his prolific heading ability and powerful shot, Beards scored the winning goal in the Finnish Cup Final of 1994 with an audacious back heel through the opposing keepers legs culminating in a 2:1 win over favorites HJK.
Decimated by this embarrassing piece of skill the HJK goalkeeper never played another professional game again.
