Sione Lātūkefu

Reverend Dr.[1] Sione Lātūkefu (10 April 1927 – 2 June 1995)[2][3] was a Tongan historian.

Lātūkefu obtained the degree of Bachelor of Education at the University of Queensland in 1962.[4] He later obtained a doctorate.[5]

He was the first professional historian in Tonga, and, in 1989, founded the Tongan History Association to encourage studies of Tongan history.[6] He was also "instrumental" in establishing the Tonga Research Society.[7]
