Shamim Akhtar

Shamim Akhtar (Urdu: شمیم اختر; 9 March 1927 – 22 November 2020) was a Pakistani politician who was a Member of the Provincial Assembly of the Punjab, from May 2013 to May 2018.

Early life and education

She was born on 9 March 1927 in Lahore.[1]

She completed matriculation level education.[1]

Political career

She was the wife of Mian Muhammad Sharif and mother of ex-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, ex-Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif and ex-member of the national assembly Abbas Sharif.

Death

Shamim Bibi had travelled to London in February earlier this year and had been living with her son, Nawaz, since.

An Alzheimer's patient, her condition had deteriorated over the past week and she could not regain her health due to old age. She had been unwell for the past several months and that her condition had become critical over the last week and she breathed her last at home on Sunday morning.

The Sharif family would make arrangements to transport the body to Pakistan for burial.
