History
CD Publications began producing housing-related newsletters in 1961, starting with Housing Affairs Letter. The company branched out into senior affairs with Aging News Alert in 1984. Selling to Seniors was begun in 1987, with Jean Van Ryzin as editor. She left the position in 1990 to freelance but returned in the winter of 2001.
In late 1999, CD Pubs bought The Maturing Marketplace from Silver Spring-based Business Publishers, Inc., and folded it into STS, which at the time was edited by Allison Patterson.
Current Coverage
STS covers the marketing of products and services through the Internet, direct mail, print media, radio and TV. It features case studies and reports on demographic trends, plus professional advertising critiques.
Expansion
In 2007, STS was changed to a web-based format and, along with CD Publications' other aging news services, was moved onto the web portal SeniorsNews.net.
