Sakashima green snake

The Sakashima green snake, (Ptyas herminae)[2] is a species of snake in the family Colubridae. The species is endemic to Japan.

Etymology

The specific name, herminae, is in honor of Boettger's wife, Hermine Boettger.[3]

Geographic range

Ptyas herminae is found in the Ryukyu Islands of Japan.[1]

Description

Ptyas herminae may attain a total length of 58 cm (23 in), which includes a tail about 11 cm (4.3 in) long.[4]

Reproduction

Ptyas herminae is oviparous.[1]
