Richard Horatio Blair

Richard Horatio Blair (born May 1944) is the adopted son of English author George Orwell.[1]

He was adopted by Eileen[2] and Eric Blair (George Orwell)[1] and after their deaths, lived with Avril (née Blair, Orwell's sister, his legal guardian) and Bill Dunn. Blair attended Loretto School from 1953 to 1960, before studying at agricultural colleges in Aberdeen and joining Massey Ferguson in 1975 to 1986[3] where he worked in sales and marketing. Blair became the proprietor of Loch Craignish (self-catering) Cottages from 1985 until 2008. He is a trustee of The Orwell Foundation and Orwell Youth Prize, and is also patron of The Orwell Society.[4] Blair is married with two sons.
