Pinacotheca (Doctor Who)

Pinacotheca is a unproduced 1986 four-part Doctor Who adventure serial written by Christopher H Bidmead for the Sixth Doctor. It was proposed as the third segment of Trial of a Time-Lord.[1]

Synopsis[2]

With a trial still being held by the Timelords, The Doctor's next crime evidence reveals him on the planet Pinacotheca, a planet that holds a museum within key of times and places in the history of the universe.

Production

On October 29, 1985, Bidmead originally entitled the story "The Last Adventure",[1] which soon became "Pinacotheca". After submitting the second draft on January 9, 1986,[2] Bidmead heard nothing for a month, until February 2, Bidmead was shocked to learn that his story was rejected by producer John Nathan-Turner and script editor Eric Saward, because the story was considered unusable and boring.[1][2] It was replaced by Terror of the Vervoids.[1]
