Peter van den Baar
P.M.J. "Peter" van den Baar (23 February 1941 – 11 March 2020) was a Dutch FC Eindhoven director, PvdA politician and was mayor of Goirle, Ootmarsum and Sas van Gent. He was mayor from 1990 until 2003.[1][2]

He was an alderman in Eindhoven from 1978 until his appointment as mayor of Goirle in 1990.[3] In 1997 he became temporary mayor of Ootmarsum which merged on 1 January 2001 in the current municipality of Dinkelland (until 1 June 2002 still called 'municipality of Denekamp').[4] Afterwards he became temporary mayor of Sas van Gent, which was merged with Axel into Terneuzen on 1 January 2003.[1][4][5]
From 2005 to 2007, Van den Baar was chairman of the football club FC Eindhoven.[1][5] Until his dead he was chairman of the Henri van Abbe stichting.[5]
Personal
Van den Baar was born in Lieshout. He married Ria Romanesco. They had three children and seven grandchildren.[6][5] Van den Baar died in Eindhoven on 11 March 2020 due to pancreatic cancer, aged 79.[1][5]
