Administration

Penanjong is a kampong subdivision, the third and lowest division of the country's territorial administration. It is part of Pekan Tutong, one of the eight mukims in Tutong District.[4] Penanjong is administered under the Mukim and Kampung Institution of the Tutong District Office.[5]

Like other kampong subdivisions, the day-to-day administration of Penanjong is led by a ketua kampung (literally village chief). At present, it is held by Jumat bin Kadir.[3]

Infrastructure

There are two schools in Penanjong. Penanjong Primary School provides primary education from Pra (preschool) to Year 6.[6] Meanwhile, Penanjong Religious School provides primary religious education of similar grade levels for the resident Muslim pupils.[7] Both schools have their own grounds.

Inaugurated in 1984, Kampong Penanjong Mosque has since been the mosque for the need of its Muslim residents for congregational prayers, in particular Friday prayers.[8]

Places of interest

Penanjong Beach occupies the border of Penanjong with the South China Sea. A section of the beach has been officially made a recreational area, namely Pantai Persiaran Pengkalan Pinang Penanjong (translatable as 'Pengkalan Pinang Penanjong Recreational Beach').
