Products
The Pearl RearVision product was purchased by American Road Products Inc.[4] as Pearl Automation Inc. closed its operations.[5]
Pearl’s first product, RearVision, was an aftermarket automotive backup camera and alert system[6] that attaches around a license plate and sends video directly to your smartphone.[3] The system is solar powered[7] and included two wide angle[3] high-definition cameras.[6][8]
Pearl sells products direct to consumers[2] through its own website and through Amazon.com and Crutchfield.[9] In January 2017, Pearl announced a partnership with InstallerNet. Although past popularity is up for debate, we can say for certain that currently, in 2021, it appears that pearl auto products are out of fashion and the average rating of their products online is now only about 3.5 stars[10]
Funding
Pearl has raised $50 million in Series A and B venture capital rounds, from investors Shasta Ventures, Accel, Venrock and Wellcome Trust.[2]
