Party Whip of the People's Action Party

The Party Whip of the People's Action Party is responsible for ensuring that People's Action Party members of the Parliament of Singapore attend and vote according to the party's line. The Party Whip also assists the Parliament in completing its business by listing the speaking MPs and the time required for each item of business.[1]

The People's Action Party appoints a Party Whip along with two Deputy Party Whips. Due to the PAP securing a parliamentary supermajority since 1959, the PAP Party Whip is usually the Government Whip while the Deputy Party Whips are the Deputy Government Whips.

Lee Khoon Choy was appointed as the first PAP Party Whip on 23 June 1959. The current PAP Party Whip is Janil Puthucheary, who was appointed on 6 June 2019.
