Paerata was a flag station, 28 mi (45 km) south of Auckland.[4] It was 633.19 km (393.45 mi) north of Wellington, 4.43 km (2.75 mi) north of Pukekohe, 9.51 km (5.91 mi) south of Runciman and 45 m (148 ft) above sea level.[5]
New train stations for Drury West and Paerata are included in a July 2017 proposal for Auckland infrastructure spending of $600 million to support new housing announced by the government. They will be built and owned by a new Crown Infrastructure Partners body, as the Auckland Council has reached its borrowing limit.[6]
