Olivier Marleix

Olivier Marleix (born 6 February 1971) is a French politician of the Republicans who has been serving as a member of the French National Assembly since the 2012 elections, representing the department of Eure-et-Loir.[1]

Political career

In parliament, Marleix serves on the Committee on Legal Affairs. In addition to his committee assignments, he is a member of the French-Moroccan Parliamentary Friendship Group.[2]

From 2017 until 2018, Marleix chaired a parliamentary inquiry into whether France's government should subject foreign takeovers of French firms it has cleared to parliamentary scrutiny.[3]

Following Christian Jacob's election as LR chairman, Marleix announced his candidacy to succeed him as lead of the party's parliamentary group in November 2019; he eventually lost against Damien Abad.[4]

Political positions

In the Republicans’ 2016 presidential primaries, Marleix endorsed Nicolas Sarkozy as the party's candidate for the office of President of France.[5] In the Republicans’ 2017 leadership election, he endorsed Laurent Wauquiez.[6]
