Okaden Seikibashi Line

Okayama Electric Tramway Seikibashi Line (Japanese: 岡山電気軌道清輝橋線) is an Okayama Electric Tramway route that runs between Yanagawa Station (Okayama) and Seikibashi Station in Okayama, Okayama, Okayama Prefecture, Japan.

Outline

The entire line is located Okayama, Okayama, double-track, Street running. The line splits at Yanagawa Station (Okayama) on Higashiyama Main Line and runs south along the national highway Yanagawa Suji (Route 53/Route 30) to Seikibashi Station.

Okayama Electric Tramway had held a license for extending the line towards Hōsei, but the powers lapsed in 1960.[1]。

When constructed road Yanagawa Suji which is passing through the line, サイドリザベーション方式 which has reared in Japan was used, when constructed road, the line was also constructed so platform on stations are Island on the line eliminate Seikibashi Station. In 2002, almost stations on the line was promoted barrier-free eliminate Seikibashi Station follow to introduce Type 9200 MOMO. Seikibashi Station wasn't upgraded to barrier-free since platform had been located under the bridge for pedestrians, but in 2007 the station has been promoted barrier-free.

Fares

Fares for riding entire line are 140 yen (as of 2020), but fares for riding between Okayama Station and Yūbinkyoku Mae Station is at same price as many of the competing buses which run from Okayama Station to Omotemachi Bus Center via Tenmanya Bus Terminal at 100 yen.

History

• 18 March 1928 - opened as Yanagawa Line between Yanagawa station and Daiunji-machi.
• 1 September 1931 - Higashi-Tamachi Station opened, between Maroyamachi-Suji and Renshōji-mae.
• 6 July 1937 - Higashi-Tamachi Station renamed to Yūbinkyoku-mae Station.
• 23 June 1942 - Renshōji-mae renamed to Shiyakusho-mae Station (Okayama).
• 6 September 1946 - renamed from Yanagawa Line to Seikibashi Line, opening between Daiunji-machi and Seikibashi. Section between Shin-Saidaijimachisuji Station and Daiunji-machi Station discontinued.

Others

The company has collaborated with Chuggington since 2019 and has operated the Chuggington Train, and has used rolling stock that was named after characters in the Chuggington story. Route map for the Chuggington Train.
