Ochrobactrum intermedium

Ochrobactrum intermedium is a bacterium from the genus of Ochrobactrum.[3][4] It is related to Brucella spp. and was first described by Velasco and others in 1998.[5] It causes diseases in humans only rarely, with single case reports of cholangitis following liver transplantation,[6] bacteremia in a patient with bladder cancer,[7] a pelvic abscess after abdominal surgery,[8][9] dyspepsia,[10] endophalmitis in the presence of a foreign body,[11] pneumonia,[12] and endocarditis.[13]

O. intermedium, O. anthropi, and Brucella melitensis can be distinguished on the basis of a multi-primer polymerase chain reaction that targets the recA gene.[14] The genome of O. intermedium was sequenced and submitted to GenBank in 2013.[15]
