Norbert Garko Awullay

Norbert Garko Awullay (born 22 June 1954) is a Ghanaian politician and a member of the First, Second and Third Parliament of the Fourth Republic representing the South Constituency in the Upper East Region of Ghana.[1]

Early life and education

Awullay was born on 22 June 1950 at Builsa South in the Upper East Region of Ghana. He attended the Institute of Social Science, Moscow and obtained a Diploma in Social Science.[1]

Politics

Awullay was first elected into Parliament during the 1992 Ghanaian general elections for the Builsa South Constituency in the Upper East Region of Ghana on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress.[1][2] In the 1996 Ghanaian general elections, He polled 7,202 votes out of the 10,966 valid votes cast representing 50.80% over a People`s National Convention member who polled 3,412 votes representing 24.10% and Kabanaba Henry Abeka of the New Patriotic Party who polled 352 votes representing 2.50%.[3]

He polled 4,690 votes out of the 8,513 valid votes cast representing 52.40% to be crowned winner in the 2000 Ghanaian General Elections.[4] He was defeated by Abolimbisa Roger Akantagriwen in the 2004 parliamentary primaries.[5]

Personal life

Awullay is a Christian.[1]
