Nieuwe Pekela
Nieuwe Pekela is a village in the Dutch province of Groningen. It is located in the municipality of Pekela, about 6 km southeast of Veendam.

Nieuwe Pekela was a separate municipality until 1990, when it merged with Oude Pekela to form the new municipality of Pekela.[1]

Famous people
Marcel Meijer (b. 1966), the mayor of the Danish island of Samsø was born in Nieuwe Pekala.
