Naresh Bansal

Naresh Bansal is an Indian politician and Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha from Uttarakhand. He is member of the Bharatiya Janata Party.[2] He is a former General Secretary (Organisation) of Bharatiya Janata Party, Uttarakhand [3] He served as the Working President of Bharatiya Janata Party, Uttarakhand.[4]

Bansal before elected to Rajyasabha holds a cabinet rank as the vice-chairman of the state-level 20-point programme implementation committee.[5]

Early life

Bansal was born into a lower middle class family in Dehradun. He studied M.Com in DAV College. He is married and has three children.

Political career

Naresh Bansal joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh when he was eight years old. Bansal left his government job as got notice because working in emergency as a RSS worker and leader in 1977 and has been in politics for over four decades as of 2020.[6]

Bansal has headed the RSS’s disaster management panel for over 20 years.

He was the treasurer of Uttaranchal Samvad Samiti formed at the time of Ram Janmabhoomi movement. Between 1972 and 1974, he was the city treasurer of the RSS student council.

In 1977 Bansal was elected as district coordinator of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP). He was also part of the Hindu Jagran Manch from 1980 to 1986.

Naresh Bansal was the state general secretary (organisation) from 2002 to 2009. He was also made the interim president of Bharatiya Janata Party, Uttarakhand.

In 2012 Bansal was selected as a candidate for Rajya Sabha on BJP ticket but later withdrew.[7]

On 2 November 2020 he was elected unopposed from Uttarakhand.[8]
