Nandalike is the birthplace of the poet Muddana (Nandalike Lakshmi Narayanappa).
The Mahalingeshwara (Lord Shiva) worshipped here along with Sathya Devatha (Goddess of Truth) called Siri, Abbaga Daraga, Kumara Swamy, Naga, and Brahma. Nandalike is also called Alade and Moolastana to lakhs of devotees. The temple has a history of over 1000 years. The Annual Festival of the Temple starts from the full moon day of tulu, the month of Mayi (between 15 February and 15 March) and celebration day called Ayanostava is celebrated on the subsequent full moon day, i.e. between 15 March and 15 April.
Nandalike Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple
Shree Mahalingeshwara Temple is dedicated to God Shiva is located in Nandalike village at Karkala Taluk in Udupi District of Karnataka. The temple is 6 km away from Mangalore-Padubidri-Karkala Highway from East and 15 km away from Karkala. The holy temple is surrounded by greenery and serene nature. The Coastal Region of Karnataka is famous for its pilgrim shrines. Because of some historical temple devotees are attracted towards this Coastal Region. The history says and well known by people that The Mahalingeshwara Temple is established by Shri Vadiraja Swami. Other worshiped Gods at Shree Mahalingeshwara temple sannidhana are- Shri Uribrahma, Ganapathi, Veerabhadra, Nandhigona, Sirikumara, Abbaga Daraga, Khadgeshwari, Raktheshwari, Chamundi, Annappa, Kshetrapala, Bhootharaja, Gajamalla, Mahanagaraja Swami Sanidhya.

Kanabettu
Kanabettu is a well-known family in South Kanara. This family is famous for their unity and charity. Shri Chandu Pergade was born into this family. Siri, a well-known personality in South Kanara, left her daughter Sonne with Chandu Pergade before she died. Abbaga and Daraga, the twin daughters of Sonne, also have connections with this family and they left a message to Chandu Pergade before their death. Their dead bodies will be visible only to Chandu Pergade as betelnut flower. Recently a statue of Chandu Pergade was installed by this family in his memory. This family worships "Raktheswari", their family god. They have a family get-together every year on 14 May, They perform Annual Pooja of Raktheshwari. They also celebrate the Navrathri Pooja at the Raktheshwari Temple. They also believe and have faith in their Gram Devata Shri Mahalingeshwar Temple, Nandalike. The family is headed by the elders Shri N. D. Shetty and Shri Ramanna Shetty.
