Municipalities of Azerbaijan
The municipalities of Azerbaijan are administrative divisions of Azerbaijan.[1] They are below the level of the districts of Azerbaijan.
Terminology
The Azerbaijani term for municipality is bələdiyyə, see also baladiyah.
History
On 2 July 1999 the Law on Municipal Elections and the Law on the Status of Municipalities was passed.[1] On 12 December 1999 the first municipal elections were held.[2] January 2000.
