From April 2012, he has been the acting-dojocho of the Aikikai Hombu Dojo. Mitsuteru Ueshiba is referred to as Waka-sensei (先生); this term was applied to Moriteru Ueshiba when the second Dōshu Kisshomaru Ueshiba was still alive. Literally, Waka means “young”, however in this case the term of “Waka” refers to the “successor” (後継者), the person that will continue after his father (in this case Dōshu).

Personal life

On March 2, 2008, Mitsuteru Ueshiba married Keiko Kusano and on June 22, 2008, a ceremonial party was held at Keio Plaza Hotel with the attendance of major Aikido sensei.
