He is popular in his constituency, especially among youth supporters of BNP in Chittagong, as well as other parts of Bangladesh.
Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin remains firm in his political belief and ideology despite persecution against him and his family during the army-backed 1/11 caretaker government of Bangladesh. Mir Helal's loyalty to Shahid President Ziaur Rahman's family has given him a reputation for being trustworthy amongst BNP workers and activists, and contributed to his popularity. Mir Mohammed Helal Uddin is also a pivotal member of the legal team of former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman,[4] who are also facing persecution from the ruling party of Bangladesh. He is also one of panel of editors of a monthly literary magazine called the Srijon published from Dhaka, Bangladesh.
