Minnatullah Rahmani
Minnatullah Rahmani (7 April 1913 – 20 March 1991) was an Indian Sunni Muslim scholar who served as the first General Secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board.

Biography
Rahmani was born in Munger on 7 April 1913.[1] His father Muhammad Ali Mungeri was a founding figure of the Nadwatul Ulama in Lucknow.[2]
After completing his primary education in Munger, Rahmani studied Arabic grammar, syntax and logic with Mufti Abd al-Lateef in Hyderabad. He took admission at Nadwatul Ulama for his further studies, and studied there for four years. In 1349 AH, he moved to Darul Uloom Deoband where he studied Sahih Bukhari with Hussain Ahmad Madani. He graduated from the Darul Uloom seminary in 1352 AH.[3] His other teachers include Sayyid Asghar Hussain Deobandi and Muhammad Shafi Usmani.[1]
In 1935, Abul Muhasin Muhammad Sajjad founded the Muslim Independent Party and Rahmani was appointed as its member. Through it, he was elected as a member of Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1937.[1] He was appointed as the Sajjada Nashin of Khanqah-e-Rahmani, Munger in 1361 AH and a member of the legislative council of Darul Uloom Deoband in 1955, a post he served until his death.[3][1] Alongside Qari Muhammad Tayyib, he played a key role in establishing the All India Muslim Personal Law Board and was appointed as its first general secretary in the inception meet of the board which took place on 28 December 1972.[1] In 1964, he participated in the World Muslim Congress as delegate of India.[3]
In 1945, Rahmani re-established the Jamia Rahmania, a well known madrassa in Munger, India.[1][4]
Rahmani died on 20 March 1991.[1]
Legacy
Rahmani's son Wali Rahmani is the founder of Rahmani30 and the incumbent General Secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board.[5][6] At the Aligarh Muslim University, Mohd Azhar wrote his doctoral thesis entitled Maulana Minnatullah Rahmani: analytical study of his life and religio-intellectual contributions.[7] Shah Imran Hasan wrote his biography Hayat-e Rahmani: Maulana Minnatullah Rahmani ki Zindagi ka Ilmi aur Tarikhi Mutala’a (English: The Life of Rahmani: A Study of Maulana Minatullah Rahmani’s Scholarly and Historical Legacy) which has a foreword from Akhtarul Wasey.[8]
