Metta Permadi (born April 11, 1989) is an Indonesian soap-opera actress of Chinese descent. She is the only child of Ahim Permadi and Lanida Haryono.

Career

Permadi's career in entertainment started in 2003 when she auditioned for a teen model magazine while she was in junior high school. She passed initial selection, and reached the top 40 models. After her audition, she received many offers for photo-shoots, commercials, and television roles from various corporations. In her first soap-opera, Bunga Perawan, she appeared in only three scenes but was able to work with Indonesian actress Laudya Cynthia Bella. After her role on Bunga Perawan, she received offers to appear in more soap-operas, commercials, and modeling jobs. To date, she has played in more than hundred roles.

To improve her skills, Permadi took an acting class with Eka D. Sitorus, who had instructed Bella.

After her education, she appeared in several advertisements, for brands such as Clean & Clear, Torabika Mocca, and So Klin Pewangi. Later, the same production house asked her to audition for a soap opera, Aku Ingin Hidup, produced by Rapi Films in 2004. In this soap opera, she worked alongside Rorencia Natassia and Raffi Ahmad.

Permadi was encouraged by Rapi Films to join the soap opera Cinta Terbagi Lima, with Raeshard Octaviansha and Nadia Vega. She followed this in 2005 with the soap opera Cinta SMU 2, starring Asmirandah. Through a lengthy process, she starred in an advertisement for Ting Ting Garuda, alongside Vicky Nitinegoro; it also made people familiar to her sweet face on television with shrill voice, "tingting bukan permen tingting bukan biskuit".

In 2006, she was invited by Soraya Intercine Films to play a role in the soap opera Sepatu Kaca, which starred Shandy Aulia, Ben Joshua, Steve Emmanuel, and Yogi Finanda. In 2006, she also joined TM management under the auspices of (alm.) Teddy Sudjadi, and her career began to flourish. She gained an important role in the soap opera Malin Kundang 2, produced by MD Entertainment and starring Desy Ratnasari. Offers came in for television movies from Multivision Plus, MD Entertainment, Frame Ritz, MNC Pictures, and Rapi Films.

In 2007, she acquired a role in the daily soap opera Cinderella (Apakah Cinta Hanyalah Mimpi?), which starred Cinta Laura.

In 2008, she acquired a prominent role (through Multivision Plus) in the soap opera Elegi, which starred Imelda Therinne, Cok Simbara, and Temmy Rahadi, and aired on Astro Aruna TV channel in 2008. She had a strong character in this soap opera, playing an innocent country girl with a Javanese accent, whose life became a mess since she arrived in Jakarta.

In 2009, the Malaysian television channel invited her to return in Cinta Indah 2. In this soap opera, she acted with Sandra Dewi, Anjasmara, Imey Liem, and Olla Ramlan.

In 2010, she rejoined production house Multivision Plus to star in the soap opera Islam KTP, with Lionil Tikoalu Islam, Reza Aditya, and Aiman Ricky. Cinema Images producer Deddy Mizwar invited her to star in a television film about the trafficking of women in Singkawang, West Kalimantan. The film, directed by Viva Westi, was a true story, and won the "Best Film Television" award at the 2011 Indonesian Film Festival.

In 2011, her manager, Teddy Sujadi, died. The event hampered Permadi's career as her future projects had not been set.

In 2012, she signed under Bentuk Management, led by Agung Saputra, and gained a role with the Trans TV production of Sketsa, her first situation comedy.

In 2013, Permadi acted in several television films and played a role in the soap opera Emak Ijah Pengen Ke Mekah, opposite Irwansyah.

In 2014, she received her first film role offer for the movie Taman Langsat Mayestik.
