Summary
The story of the series revolves around the social and economic issues of citizens in Pakistani society alongside highlighting deeply rooted problems in Pakistan including and particularly child abuse.[4]
Plot
The story starts with an 8 year old Arifa being sexually abused and killed resulting in chaos in the town. The story revolves around Shehnaz wanting to educate her 3 daughters who are considered bad luck by their paternal grandmother. Due to their financial issues the youngest daughter of Shehnaz, Abida is not able to join school but goes to a madrasa instead. Due to these shocking events Shehnaz and her husband decide to arrange a rickshaw for their kids pick and drop. On the other hand, Dabeer acts out as a very innocent and sensitive person and doesn’t want to get married but his mother forces him into marriage with Safeena, a state level badminton player. Although Safeena has told Dabeer to not come close to her but somehow she starts having feelings for him. But Dabeer avoids her as much as possible. Safeena being called “dulhan” by Abida that leads to a good friendship between them. However, later in series it is clear that Dabeer is the villain and the murderer of all these innocent little girls and now has his eyes over Abida. One day when returning from school Abida goes missing But she's later found in the house of Arifa as her(arifas) mentally ill mother had taken her there. Shehnaz's mother in law forces her son to remarry so that he can have a son and the marriage is set between Shaheer around 40 and a young girl around 16. The girl had been a victim of sexual abuse. On the day of wedding Dabeer cons Jahan Ara, sister in law of Shehnaz who likes Dabeer and somehow manages to kidnap Abida. She goes missing for two days while police does nothing to help them. Later she's discovered on a heap of garbage. Abida's death leaves a great impact on Shehnaz and Safeena as they start crying for vengeance. As they are some weak women of the society and hold no importance. They make a video and make it viral on internet. This was the first step towards their mission. Anyhow they convince more women who’ve faced the same issue to come out and make their voices heard. the men of the town including the police officer try to shut the voices of these women by opening a fire in Shaheer's and Shehnaz's house. All of them are recovered though Shaheer being slightly injured. During this period both Shehnaz and Safeena feel something fishy about Dabeer. The second attempt of the men to shut their voices was by shooting Safeena but she turns out fine as the bullet only touched her. Samreen, the sister if Dabeer somehow discovers the truth but he kidnaps her and leaves her to die in an empty house with no food or water and tells everyone that she has eloped with some guy. Later it is revealed that Safeena, Shehnaz and Yawar(Dabeer's brother) believe that Dabeer is behind all this. Safeena finds out the truth by showing that dumb girl who had once been a victim of sexual abuse, a picture of Dabeer and she confirms it for her. On the other hand, all the men of the town were forced to have their DNA tests done by the police. While on her way back Safeena finds Dabeer going somewhere on his bike, she follows him and then later Samreen is rescued and Dabeer is put in jail. Even after the results had come out, Dabeer had been proven guilty and had even accepted his crime in the custody of police. Many people of the town wanted him to be free. Sheikh a prominent member of the town promises Dabeer's father to hire an expensive lawyer for him in exchange of marriage with Samreen. The deal is done and the first hearing of case is almost won by Dabeer. The bill of hanging the pedophiles in front of the whole town had passed and now Safeena and Shehnaz were adamant on that. Safeena gets divorce and then is later kidnapped by the ex- police officer. The drama ends with Dabeer being hanged in front of the whole town as he sees the faces of all the 12 innocent girls he had killed.
