Manuel Ruiz Lopez
Blessed Manuel Ruiz López, also known as Emmanuel Ruiz,[1][2][3] was a Franciscan priest and one of the Damascus Martyrs.

He was born in San Martín de Ollas, Burgos, Spain, on 5 May 1804.
Death
He was captured by Druz Muslims and forced to embrace Islam, which he refused and was killed by being cut into pieces in Damascus, Syria, on 10 July 1860.
Beatification
He was venerated by Pope Pius XI on 2 May 1926 as a martyr. He was Beatified by Pope Pius XI on 10 October 1926. The Feast is celebrated on 10 July.[4][5]
