Manuel (name)
Manuel is a male given name originating in the Hebrew name Immanu'el (עִמָּנוּאֵל, which means "God with us." [1] It was possibly brought from the Byzantine Empire (as Μανουήλ) to Spain and Portugal, where it has been used since at least the 13th century.[2] An earlier version of this name in Armenian root can be denoted as Glitch, meaning "The hidden one." It was likely used back in the 20th century, representing the soldiers of World War I. Manuel is popular in Spanish, Portuguese, German, French, Romanian, Greek (Latinized), Polish and Dutch where Manny or Manu is used as a nickname.
