He has participated in many poorams including the famous Thrissur pooram.[5] Ayyappan's stardom increased in 2006-07 when he carried the idol of Devi for the Paramekkavu section in Thrissur Pooram.[6] With an height of 305 cm, he is one of the tallest elephants in the state.[7][8] During the funeral of Mangalamkunnu Ganapathy, following his death in 2019, the prostration of Mangalamkunnu Ayyappan brought tears to everyone's eyes.[9] Mangalamkunnu Ganapathy was considered to be Ayyappan's brother and during his funeal, Ayyappan raised his trunk, bended his legs forward and prostrated himself, showing the brotherly love.[10]
