Maligaya, Floridablanca
Maligaya (Colloquial Name: Barangay Happiness) officially Barangay Maligaya is a barangay in the municipality of Floridablanca in the province of Pampanga, Philippines. It is located in the Urban Area of the Municipality of Floridablanca.

Maligaya is situated at approximately 14.9673 north, 120.5411 east, in the island of Luzon. Elevation at these coordinates is estimated at 20.0 meters or 65.6 feet above mean sea level.
Neighboring barangays include Fortuna to the west; Poblacion to the east; San Isidro to the north; and San Antonio to the south. It is part of the Second Legislative district of Pampanga.
History
Originally Barangay Maligaya is a Sitio of Barangay Fortuna. In the 1960s Sitio Maligaya was separated from Barangay Fortuna.
Some of its land area is part of the Floridablanca Railways of the Arayat-Carmen Branch of the Philippine National Railways.[1]
On October 5, 2018, Speaker Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo inspects the slope protection construction in Barangay Maligaya.[2]
Geography
The Barangay is geographically having low areas. Lying directly on the Santol Creek, Maligaya is considered prone to flooding.

Demographics
Maligaya is the smallest barangay of Floridablanca. The population of Maligaya grew from 806 in 1990 to 969 in 2015, an increase of 163 people. The latest census figures in 2015 denote a positive growth rate of 0.14%, or an increase of 7 people, from the previous population of 962 in 2010. Its population as determined by the 2015 Census was 969. This represented 0.77% of the total population of Floridablanca. According to the 2015 Census, the age group with the highest population in Maligaya is 20 to 24, with 100 individuals. Conversely, the age group with the lowest population is 80 and over, with 7 individuals.

Business
Sari-Sari Stores is present within the community. The oldest known Sari-Sari Store that operate since 1940s is Apung Agring Store.
Mama Chang Sizzling-Pares-Lomi ATBP operates at Purok 2.
Nacpil-Mallari Pharmacy is also present along National Hi-way Purok 3.
There are also Apartments in Purok 1 and Purok 2.
Politics
In the 2016 presidential election, Barangay Maligaya gave President Rodrigo Duterte a landslide vote of 53.45% versus his closest rival in the barangay Jejomar Binay with 22.85%. In the vice presidential race Bong-Bong Marcos got an overwhelming vote of 68.77% versus his closest rival Leni Robredo with 16.67% of total votes only.[3]

Religion
Barangay Maligaya is composed of many religious groups, but it is predominantly Roman Catholic.
According to 2015 Census, other prominent Christian groups include the Iglesia Ni Cristo, different Protestant Church and many others.
The Catholic Chapel or bisitas is located in front of the Barangay Hall. Its patron saint is Immaculate Concepcion whose feast day is celebrated every 08 of December.
Virgen de los Remedios de Pampanga and Sto. Cristo del Perdon the patroness and patron of the Province of Pampanga, respectively.
