Following the success of Nedunchaalai (2014), director N. Krishna revealed in July 2014 that he had begun work on a romantic comedy film titled Maane Thaene Paeye featuring Aari again in the lead role.[1][2] Keerthi Suresh was signed on to play the lead actress in the film, but opted out after she received offers to be a part of bigger films.[3] Subsequently, Bengali actress Subhashree Ganguly replaced her, making her debut in Tamil films. Daniel Balaji was also added to the cast in November 2014.[4]
