Controversy

After a DYFI woman leader raised sexual harassment allegation against Shornur MLA P. K. Sasi, who is from the CPI(M),[8]  Josephine said a suo motu case cannot be registered as the complaint has been forwarded to the party, and that the party has its own way of dealing with it.[9] Later, while responding to questions on the Commission's perceived indifference in cases where the accused are CPI(M) leaders, Josephine, who is a central committee member of the party, said that her party is both court and police.[10][11][12] Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala said that such statements were unacceptable while holding a quasi-judicial position,[13] while Congress leader and MLA Shanimol Usman urged the government to take a case against her.[14] The BJP demanded her resignation[15] while it's MP Meenakshi Lekhi called it "fascism in action".[16] The Mahila Congress also criticised the statement.[17]
